Zep were a posse of fairies that got around in flowery shirts and sang about lovey dovey pish and tried to copy Hendrix but instead sounded like cracker ass crackers.
Compelling argument.
You win.

I grew up listening to zeppelin than i kinda got into sabbath, i much prefer zep over sabbath. Am i going to get bashed for this [:|]. Rock 'n roll motherfucker!
Hmmm.
Face it, Sabbath’s ‘schtick’ ran out of steam pretty damn quickly.
They fumbled and bumbled and mumbled around for a while making the odd decent album (as well as the odd gem here and there) but have outstayed their welcome by about…oh, I dunno…maybe 25 years or so.
Yes, Ozzy had THE VOICE and yes Iommi had THE RIFFS and yes their legacy is undeniable but I can’t help but think it was all just one big fluke. They tapped into the right ‘thing’ at the right time - a la Nirvana.
Maybe they could have gone back to being plumbers or steelworkers or whatever the fuck they were beforehand instead of heaping shit year after year on the good work they did in the early formative years.
Sheesh, that band has embarrassed themselves more times in the last 25 years than Kiss have done since they took off their makeup. Gettin’ pretty sick of hearing about the ‘godfathers of metal’ and how ‘undeniably awesome’ they are/were.
At least Zeppelin had the gall to realise when a good thing was over and let it die with honour.
And for the record ‘Born Again’ is the worst album by a ‘classic’ band I think I have ever heard.
zomg so true man. I cant stand people who suck sabbaths dick, yea they where a great band, but give it a rest its already been ruined. If i see another “listen to sabbath” shirt im going to barf.
Ha! I had no idea Def Leppard were still going until a few months ago I saw a review for ‘Songs From The Sparkle Lounge’ on Metacritic. Shows how much I know. Last thing I remember from them was ‘Let’s Get Rocked’ back in ‘91 or something. I remember that distinctly because my boss’ son used to play it all the time when he’d come and bother us at our workplace. Stupid kid.
But I’d agree that Zeppelin never sucked - they called it quits at the right time. They did have a reunion recently but they aren’t going to regroup and write new material. Their last album ‘In Through The Out Door’ was quite good - in a harmless '70s rock type way.
And yeah, Sabbath’s ‘Born Again’ is freakin’ atrocious. I even hated it waaay back in ‘88 when I was a 14 year old Dungeons And Dragons playin’, Iron Maiden worshipin’ dweeb.
Plant’s getting more critical praise and acclaim with him album w/allison crause then he ever did in zepplin.
A new tour would be terrible. Didn’t they have to downtune for most of the songs so that he could hit the notes? And the one of show was only as a tribute to their dead friend.
Ozzy and sabbath have worn out their welcome for the most part. Mostly ozzy after the oversaturation due to that tv show on mtv and when he was EVERYWHERE for a few years. From books, to magazines, to toys, to commercials for shit (pepsi) to little bobble heads at mcdonalds and whatnot… ech… Plus i’f you 've been to more than 2 ozzfests chances are you’ve seen enough ozzy live in your life
