Killing Joke cancels US tour?

[reply]
I wish I could give them the benefit of the doubt but the last time they canceled Miami they used the “health problems” excuse…it was also a WEEK before that tour started…and given their penchant for flakiness and the fact that this is the 3rd time this has happened to me I really don’t give a shit what the reason is…these are the guys who moved to Iceland to avoid the oncoming apocalypse…whatever, fuck them…

Ah yes the Iceland move, I forgot about that one.

What was the rationale again for why Iceland would survive the apocalypse? Like, when the ICBMs were being launched, was Bjork supposed to begin singing a magical song that would erect a protective force field around the region?[/reply]

In 1981 killing joke had a collective lyric book, we were all, with the exception of Youth, students of The Mysteries, of the occult, and I started getting even more vivid dreams around this time. At the time I was practicing sleep awake, a form of astral travel, and I kept coming across these references to an island at the end of the Earth and of course I put these references in the book and a debate ensued within the band as to whether it was a literal place or whether it was the island of your soul, your being. In fact this was something that we only resolved about two months ago but at the time Geordie and I set off for Iceland and then, much later, to New Zeeland…

In Iceland Geordie had come up with the idea of pre-upheaval migration theory, essentially that more and more people were coming to the cities, to the metropolis, seeking work and that these places had become ones of potential violence, of poverty and economic struggle and that to counter this there must be a counter migration to under-populated regions of the globe. At the time, back in Iceland in 1982, even our closest friends thought we were mad but now it seems a perfectly logical course of action.

Regarding illnesses, I strongly suspect it’s either Jaz or Geordie. They’ve done various shows without Paul since he came back, and Youth didn’t finish the Absolute Dissent US tour for family reasons.

They’ve a very bad habit of cancelling/postponing shows. I know Jaz hates touring America because of the long tours they did there for Extremities, Pandemonium and KJ2003.

Total rumor mode:

From what I’ve heard, Big Paul has a repetitive stress injury and simply can’t get behind the drum kit for right now. I think it can be pretty painful both physically and emotionally. Honestly, a huge bummer.

Session Drummer until he’s fixed. Problem solved.
Don’t want a session drummer Don’t plan tours. Problem solved

This…

Yeah, any time Anthrax has a show lately, there is often at least one replacement player. They book these big tours, so if Charlie needs off for divorce court or whatever. . .

The show must go on.

I’m sure a few people grumble about that, but at least they played.

I skipped on seeing them last time they headlined here because of that shit. I heard they were doing shows without Charlie and even shows without Charlie and Scott. what pissed me off about it is they seemed to know which shows they were missing but didn’t tell the fans anything about it, you just had to come to the show and find out who was playing. I see your point about not cancelling but if I had gone to an Anthrax show and Charlie wasn’t on drums I would’ve been really disappointed, seeing him play was one of reasons I wanted to go. I was mainly pissed they didn’t let fans know ahead of time.

I get that but it isn’t like KJ has a history of just having one consistent drummer…it’s been Spinal Tap back there…
