KARAOKE

Couldn’t do it. Made it until he started singing. Douche chills.

Also, I love that the DJ says the band was in The Crow.

Trying to show the world something by choosing a song by your favorite “extreme” artist will never work. It just makes you look like a boob and turns people off to the band you think is so great. Go with something that is actually singable.

I pretty much agree; see my early comments about not picking tracks that scream “I take this very seriously” too loudly. Particularly if you’re doing the American-style version of karaoke with a backing live band, as opposed to the more Asian “private room” style.

Although “Angel of Death” is a clear exception. The karaoke version of it sounds so patently ridiculous that it’s already a laughable, surreal experience (the guitars are replaced by a very cheap-sounding keyboard preset). And of course the backing video that goes with the song is the same generic ‘kids in leather jackets jamming out on a street corner’ stock footage that is used for every other karaoke track in a hard rock / metal vein.

I really enjoy it and I don’t mind occasionally singing an old classic like “Fly Me to the Moon”. I don’t really have a go to but I’ve found that both times I’ve sung “Laid” by James it turned into a rousing singalong.

“Touch Me” by the Doors. I can generally sing this in my limited vocal range, and it’s easy to remember. First and second verse are the same. [:)]

That’s a solid choice.
I have to go to ones that have a limited range and lower tones too. I’m not going to embarrass myself and my idols by attempting to sing something by Rob Halford or King Diamond (yeah, I don’t think he’s ever been an option on Karaoke machines either, haha) or something. Heck, even the Twisted Sister songs are hard. But I can do more mid-range stuff like KISS.

I hate that song…
