Hey, I bought one of those five CDs so Grumpy only got four. Flowering Blight is worth it just for the opening track, “Perfect Pair”. I absolutely love that one!
Edit: There’s a few nice ones on Fix This!!! too, escpecially the tracks with low-rent Rick Astley doing Bowie [laugh]

Yeah, I was always disappointed we never got another Flowering Blight record. Funfact, for a couple of years a review I wrote for it was the top Google search result for that album, I guess because so few other people on the internet were talking about it, hahaha
Watching FIX made me think Al was not only a full on junkie, but also extremely paranoid at that time, saying someone was going to kill him or after him or something. “Studying” under Timothy Leary probably made it all even worse. Watching Sphinctour live show I thought all that shit around Al’s neck was just some cool thing for looks and style, but I think FIX shows that it was just bunch of some amulets and trinkets “for protection”, etc.
I’m surprised Barker stuck around until 2004 if Al was like that constantly or quite often.
I always thought the editing on that part was unfair to him. It does paint him as some paranoid loony when he’s putting on a bulletproof vest and all but he’s talking about someone threatening to hurt him in Dallas and then they do end up getting tear gassed in Tulsa.

Al’s paranoia actually leads to a touching moment when he’s trying to convince Paul to wear a top hat in order to make his head less of a target. It’s a silly thing, but Al seems, at that moment, genuinely concerned for his friend’s safety.
There is now special risk policies available that do not require a signature. a little more pricier but you can have your ass covered. It is all about the underwriting.
I think reason its not mentioned is due to the Consequence interview being older than the one that begins this thread…in the Consequence interview Al mentions being entitled to senior price at cinema but not having taken advantage of it yet…in the interviewing mentioning Barker Al mentions he got a senior price at cinema (he watched Predator).

Maybe I’m misremembering or confusing this with something else but didn’t they also give each other a peck on the cheek before hitting the stage for one of the gigs in that movie?
