[reply]I heard Gen is working on becoming a hermaphrodite.

S/He isn’t that already?[/reply]

no, not technically.

last i really read into it, Gen and their lover decided they wanted to blur the lines between the two of them and literally become the same person. so they both got a lot of plastic/reconstructive work done on their bodies so that they would more closely resemble one another. this included implants, facial work, so on and so forth.

it is actually kind of beautiful in a strange way. i mean, to love someone so much that you want to be them is both touching and unhealthy all at once.

long story short, the lover died far too young, leaving Gen to be constantly reminded of them and their love every time Gen looks into a mirror.

Okey dokey. Now I’m not sure whether I should cry or vomit. It’s like a horrible French movie or something. Oh wait, I just remembered I hate the French.

I’ll stick with vomit.

That kinda sucks… thought he did it after she died. Even weirder…

nah, it started in the early 90s, like 93ish. they got married and decided to blur the lines of difference in a sorta androgynous medley.

i mean, its not something i myself would ever do… but i do see a lot of the beauty and heart-felt honesty in it… its just… a little unhealthy as well.

when Lady Jaye died a few years ago, it morphed into a sort of living shrine kinda deal.

again, not my cup of tea, but certainly something i do respect and in a distanced way even feel a bit of warmth for.

Here they are in happier times.

she (the one on the left) very much has a cuteness to her. Wonder what she saw in P. Orridge?
What’d she die of?

so this.

i donno, i havent actually given this whole thing much thought in a few years, but looking into it again now… i donno if it is as unhealthy as i had originally figured it to be. this is actually really interesting.

Dude, this is ridiculously unhealthy.
In the pic before the interview, He looks like Newt Gingrich in drag and she just went ugly.

yeah, no, i agree, its not quite on this side of the moon, but still.

i mean, it is not the picture of mental health, but the more i look into it (now that i am a touch older haha) the more i can kinda… see parts of this being understandable. i mean, the whole ‘god eater’ element is natural, but there is more to it. its almost live a hyper evolved tattoo.

when i looked into it a few years ago, it just struck me as sick. i was in a big PTV/PTVsideprojects phase, and i was kinda… weirded out by the whole concept. but i have a lot of transgender, polygender, and so on friends and acquaintances now, instead of just the few i knew before. so now it has grown into a different level of normalcy for me.

i donno… i really wanna sit down with Gen now and really hear what they have to say.

Cancer. Breast cancer, I think? Died in her sleep. Gen’s transformation’s creepy, but he’s gotten fat and all that work just looks terrible now. Compared to that pic, he looks like a trailer park granny.

Yeah, I may feel different if I didn’t already have a longtime familiarity (at least peripherally) with Genesis. He’s NEVER seemed comfortable or at peace and has just always appeared to have that need to be weird and shock and so forth. He’d played with a bunch of stupid body modification stuff before, so, while this last “project” was certainly more extreme and unusual than any of his previous shenanigans it just failed to impress me on a gut level and I lose the ability to connect with the supposed sincere emotion of the original decision to “transform” and what not.

I have always felt a sadness with Genesis and I think it is indeed greatly magnified now. To go to these extremes with a partner and then suddenly be left alone with some oh-so-obvious reminders of the shenanigans and person, well, as a cynical bastard by nature I almost feel like he needs to construct a lot of this “it’s a tribute”, “She’s always with me” crap just to cope with the trainwreck he’s made of his body and life.

Anyway, I’m really not trying to crap on the dude/gal and if any of y’all identify with or empathize with her, great. S/he’s certainly INTERESTING if nothing else.

I’m with rusty. And the last thing Gunnar said.

Lady Jaye died of stomach cancer. A really nasty way to go.

actually iirc it was a heart condition, not that it matters. she died young, and it was sad

Lady Jaye died of stomach cancer. A really nasty way to go.

Was she already having a bunch of troubles or something? The little interview thing with the filmmaker made it seem like everything was cool and she just one night died in her sleep.

This was the official announcement on Genesis’ website back in 2007:

“Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and her reactivated Psychic TV aka PTV3 are terribly sad to announce the cancellation of their November North American tour dates. This decision is entirely due to the unexpected passing of band member Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge. Lady Jaye died suddenly on Tuesday 9th October 2007 at home in Brooklyn, New York from a previously undiagnosed heart condition which is thought to have been connected with her long-term battle with stomach cancer. Lady Jaye collapsed and died in the arms of her heartbroken “other half” Genesis Breyer P-Orridge.”

Gotcha! So she was already battling stomach cancer, but everyone got blindsided by this heart thing. Very sad, indeed.
