[reply]I love how one little comment precipitated all of that. One stupid little poorly thought comment that didn’t mean much.
I think the common denominator in all of that mess was drugs.[/reply]
That’s exactly what I was thinking.
But anyway, while in the United States, why not visit beautiful Atlanta, Georgia? It’s not the most exciting city in the country, but it’s far from the LEAST exciting! And no less than three prongs.org members live in the metro area. We could go to the world famous Clermont Lounge and drink PBRs with fat strippers.
But anyway, while in the United States, why not visit beautiful Atlanta, Georgia?
I’ve heard there are beautiful parts of Georgia. I’ve only passed through and become familiar with the filthiest public bathrooms I’ve ever seen.
If you think Georgia’s bathrooms are the worst, you’ve clearly never been to Texas.

There was a club I used to play at called the 513 that had bathrooms decoupaged entirely with cut-out from porn mags. Classy. Now the building is pricey condos.
The infamous Clermont Hotel rev mentioned probably has more than its fair share of ghost stories, and interesting characters. For awhile it was home to GG Allin in the early 90s. The Clermont Lounge is the oldest strip club in Atlanta, and has some of the oldest strippers too!
For the curious, here is GG and the Murder Junkies live at the Lounge in 1991. Probably NSFW.

We have the recently built Georgia Aquarium which has the largest tank in the world and several whale sharks. It is rather touristy though, and perpetually crowded looking much like a mall food court. I much prefer the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga which is a nice place to visit.
California: I love Southern California, and live in a place many foreigners visit (Santa Barbara); I wouldn’t recommend it–it has some physical beauty, but not much, unless you have an attraction for its charms
Very snobby people (what do you expect when even the homeless chicks are attractive there!) very old money lives in Santa Barbara.I went to college there for a semester.
The Desert of SoCal: Has an ethereal beauty of breath-taking views of mountains and dry-live-able air. Native people are nice there, even doctors!!
for a guy who has lived in that desert his whole life trust me it loses it’s charm real quick! Don’t know which native people you met but the people around here are mostly redneck “Christians” (you know the ones… the ones that look for the power in the church rather than the belief system) and have one creed above all. “Give it to me, it’s mine!”

Aren’t you generalising? Plenty of ‘ugly’ people are snobby. I should know - I live in the snobbiest area in Melbourne and many of the folks here are as ugly as pie.
Sometimes I think you have a stigma against attractive people.

Good looking folk tend to be republicans.
Akbar & his soon to be (well kind of!) wife will be coming to America in 2012!!
We shall nail NYC first then swing over to LA to hook up with Pinz for a Disney, Universal Studios, Crenshaw/South Central and Las Vegas road trip extravaganza!!!
I intend to grab myself a hotdog as soon as I touch down in NYC.
Good looking folk tend to be more educated.
Hardly! Good looking people are usually dumb as shit because they don’t have to learn anything cause us normal/ugly people are quick to open doors for them so they get spoiled and dumb. Attractive people educated? no way. They manipulate people into doing their work which spoils them which makes them republican, they think everything belongs to them.

We do have a homeless problem because of the mismanagement of social services available to mentally ill people. Our new CA governor–Jerry Brown-is making drastic cuts due to the unprecedented debt. Santa Barbara is losing a lot of state aid, and —god help us all–the benches the homeless frequent to panhandle on two blocks of downtown will have their sidewalk benches removed so that they aren’t in view of tourists. At a cost of $50-$80,000.
You are right this place is stuck up with its “we’re so beautiful that no one else can live here.” The Architectural board of review has denied any new building permits for residents–unless it’s rare tear down or has red-tiled roofs to fit in with its pseudo Disney Spanishtown motif.

No, that’s not true at all. many retirees go there and live in gated golf course communities–where million dollar homes can be stacked in 9,000 sq ft lots. From my perspective having lived in SB for 27 years and the desert for four years, I’ve found Desert common people to be friendly and the medical profession to be caring–and NOT like the Midwest’s over-reliance on prejudices and stereotypes. Some of my best doctors were there, and I thank them. As you might know Palm Springs is largely gay, and it’s no big deal as it would be in other areas.
It is HOT, but talking about weather to prevent you from doing anything is lame—although the deserts weather is infinitely better than Minnesota’s ice-covered sidewalks and snow emergencies–where I’ve had the pleasure of digging out my cars intentionally dumped with packed snow and ice ALL over.
Peligro–you don’t want to go to Minneapolis. They have a snobby veneer covering prejudice and ill-bred fakey-niceness.
Here’s apic about the beautiful “ambiance” of downtown living. This was a minor one; I’ve had some of my cars dumped with gallons of water and even more packed snow. You know what it’s like trying to open a car door frozen shut or trying to close a frozen door that stays open? Or people fucking with your brakes so there’s a left/right pressure braking differential? (causing wild fishtailing, and potential dangers OTHERS have tried to produce in my meticulously maintained cars.)
now, I’m a great driver–and have driven since i was 10 in a go-cart. Never an accident. However–if you like snow and ice, be prepared for the unexpected.
hope that helps, pictorally.
We don’t have quite as much of that shit in CA. Generally people have the guts and foritude to actually FACE you if there’s a problem. I do. In Minneapolis, it’s “vandalize and hide” , like little kids/ gov’t bureaucrats tea-peeing
As you might know Palm Springs is largely gay,
In that case I imagine they must have a pretty bitchin Black Metal scene there! Waka waka waka

well then Santa Barbara has been mismanaging for 15 years now cause state street was teeming with homeless back in 1995… there was a big fat guy that looked a little like jerry Garcia that used to hook up with a couple of other homeless peeps and they’d sit on the sidewalk and play “music” (actually some of it was pretty good) and he called their little group “sergeant peppers lonely hearts club” although I don’t remember them playing any Beatles tunes.

Different area of the desert. You’re talking about the Palm Springs, 29 Palms area. I’m was talking about Barstow, Victorville area. I know Johnette from Concrete Blonde lives in 29 Palms. we have no gated communities here. We’re barely one step above cave people.

HAHAHA!!! Barstow sucks and their water is poison. The government was trying to kill them off so they could expand Ft. Irwin to include an In-n-Out.

Good theory… Water scare seemed like bullshit to me kinda some social psychology test. growing up there I can tell you Barstow doesn’t get their water from either of the tainted wells that were said to poisoning them. Jet fuel in the water? Ft Irwin and the marine base have nothing to do with jets; it’s all on the ground artillery!
Indio or some other place had the same thing like a month later…jet fuel in the water and phosphorous… you know what the solution was … “run the tap water for five minutes and then go about life as normal”

well, living 10 mins away from NYC, I’d have to recommend that, even though I can’t stand it.
I did go to San Fransisco a few years back and loved it there. Would love to go to other places in Cali like San Diego…and the Redwood Forest park.
Favorite place in the entire world is New Orleans. Went down there to voulenteer a few years ago and fell in love with the place. The food is AMAZING, the people are the NICEST in the world, the music scene is just great, and bourbon street is a must if your’e into partying (which I’m not and I still loved it) . I cannot wait to go back down there, and if I can get a job again soon, that’s the first trip I’m planning.
I’ve also been to the Grand Canyon which is just breathe taking. Pictures do NOT do it justice. It’s the most beautiful place on earth (that I’ve seen) . I loved the entire state of Arizona and would not mind moving there in the future.
