Considering Al played briefly with him in the band P maybe Depp’s later ‘pirate’ portrayal wasn’t just inspired by Keith Richards after all.

Years ago I went to a William Gibson reading, and the man’s voice sounds very similar to Paul’s.

From what I understand it was just for one show in 1993 at The Viper Room where Al played guitar with them. This was also the show where River Phoenix overdosed and died.
