mothra was the first I heard from godflesh…love that tune.
Not yet. “Pure” is a Godflesh album, no? or a band?
Pure is the Godflesh album which follows Slavestate.
It also just happens to be one of the ten greatest albums ever made.

I’ll Look into it. I’ve been hearing great things about streetcleaner so I think it’s a toss up between those two for which one I’ll get next. But you were one those that Like Jesu S/T, do I trust you? J/K [:)]
Late,
grmpysmrf
you will like that s/t eventually
but Streetcleaner & Pure are both amazing.
Jesu’s ‘Jesu’ is a very interesting album. When I first heard it I was not too impressed as I thought the songs were too alike and not enough effort went into them. But ive been running through it again and it certainly does have a unique quality. With excception of 1 or 2 songs, the album is actually quite good. ‘Friends are Evil’ is a masterpiece; one of Jesu’s best songs so far.
Id still prefer ‘Conqueror’ over ‘Jesu’ but thats not to take from ‘Jesu’. Its a solid album. Im really looking forward to Jesu’s next full length album.
Anyway on the topic of Godflesh: They murder all other industrial bands. Id even rate them as a better “industrial” band than Ministry as Ministry dabbled in forms of music that to me were not really “industrial”. The term “industrial” is a tricky one. I know we could apply little subcategories like Grindcore-Industrial (e.g. Godflesh) or Industrial-Pop (NIN after 1995) but that can get silly. To me the band that captured the sound of “industrial” was Broadrick’s mammoth. Im still quite partial to ‘Us and Them’ but ‘Hymns’ is an often ignored great. Ive been running it through my mp3 a good bit lately. Id describe it as this: ‘Hymns’ is Godflesh’s ‘Filth Pig’.
For anyone who wants to pick up Godflesh material but dont have the funds, pick up ‘In All Languages’ the best of comp. from 2001 as you can pick it up fairly cheap at the mo. Apart from a few suspect inclusions on the Beyond the Flesh side and no inclusions from ‘Hymns’ (album was on a different label) its a cracking compilation.

No, the band that captured Industrial Music was Throbbing Gristle.
Godflesh, Ministry - Industrial Metal
The term is only made confusing by people who think Industrial music has riffs…
another thing i like about this album is that it’s almost meditative. Droning repetition and trance like sound. i often wondered if this was a main point when he was creating this album.
that’s how I feel about Pure
Streetcleaner was basically the result of a bunch of crusty grindcore kids sitting around on the dole, smoking dope and listening to the Cop album by Swans and going…“hey guys, I reckon we could do something like this if we just got off our asses!”.
Well…they were from Napalm Death too…
