Godflesh Live Tonight!!!

No setlist has been posted on avalanchers

Where’s a show report? Seems suspicious that we haven’t heard a word about the set, the projections etc…I really hope we get some HD videos out of this.

Apparently Godflesh are now playing the Supersonic Festival in Birmingham in a few months…Swans are headlining.

Still waiting for the Hellfest word…

Godflesh and Swans on the same bill?!!

Holy fuck.

my thoughts exactly. It’s a damn shame I can’t afford a flight/tix/hotel.

According to avalanchers…

Here’s the setlist of Godflesh from last Friday:

  • Like Rats
  • Christbait Rising
  • Streetcleaner
  • Tiny Tears
  • Avalanche Master Song
  • Weak Flesh
  • Spite
  • Crush My Soul
  • (not played Slateman)

If they didn’t miss 10 minutes due to the generator blowing up during the Young Gods set the last song was going to be Slateman

Not as diverse as I was expecting.

Broadrick said it was going to be an old skool set and it was.

Tiny Tears and Weak Flesh ftw. Certainly could have picked more from early Godflesh but still

Yeah wheres Slavestate?

Broadrick said it was going to be an old skool set and it was.

Was under the impression there would be SOLAH songs. Pretty much Streetcleaner with a few extras.

he said first 4 albums - SoLaH’s only in those if you discount both the first EP and Slavestate release.

Glad to see that Crush My Soul made the cut.

MAN, I want video of this SO bad.

Deadguy & Brick Windows have no business being on Filth Pig…they should be on a My Chemical Romance record where they belong.

Wrong, wrong, wrong and more wrong.

GODFLESH RULES!!!

Well…not really. I wouldn’t say “rule”. They had their time. Apart from Us And Them, they never really fucked up - but some albums are definitely weaker than others.
Pure was their peak - and what a peak it was.

And yes I’m sitting here waiting for you to rebuke me on how “awesome” Us And Them was.

Us & Them is probably tied neck and neck right now as my fave of the 'Flesh. It’s unrelentingly heavy right until the very end, where it’s unrelentingly PRETTY.

Boo-yah.

he said first 4 albums - SoLaH’s only in those if you discount both the first EP and Slavestate release.

Yeah, guess you’re right. Was more or less thinking anything from headcleaner to SOLAH and inbetween

Us & Them had its moments, mainly the 2nd half with trax like Bittersweet, Nail, The Internal and Live To Lose. It also had one of the best openers with I, Me, Mine. But my faves from Godflesh were Streetcleaner, SOLAH and of course the self-titled. I’m suprised to see that Avalanche Master Song and Weak Flesh were in there. Actually the only real shocker out of those 2 songs is Weak Flesh. AMS is kind of a given in a way even though JKB said first 4 albums. But like I said before it aint an old school set without Slavestate. And Im suprsied they didnt play more from Pure

Fan-filmed video footage of reactivated British industrial metal pioneers GODFLESH performing the song “Christbait Rising” on June 18, 2010 at Hellfest in Clisson, France can be viewed below. The Hellfest concert marked GODFLESH’s first appearance since the band disbanded in 2002.

GODFLESH — featuring Justin Broadrick (ex-NAPALM DEATH and HEAD OF DAVID) and Benny Green (ex-FALL OF BECAUSE) — will be returning to its roots to play the band’s first U.K. show in over 10 years at the 2010 edition of Birmingham’s acclaimed annual Supersonic Festival, set to take place on October 22-24.

Justin explained to U.K.'s [url “http://www.terrorizer.com/”]Terrorizer magazine the reasons behind the band’s return to the live stage.

“It wasn’t remotely planned,” he said. “Whenever it’s been mentioned previously, I’d stated categorically not, regardless of the color of the offers. But, somehow, this started to make sense late 2009, and once I put it to Ben ‘G.C.’ Green in no unceertain terms, it made sense to him, too. Not having to support a record or a label and just do as we wish on our terms is exciting, and to play as GODFLESH were originally designed is even more thrilling.”

When asked what the odds are of any new GODFLESH material being released in the near future, Justin said, “That is fairly minimal. We are more than happy to return to our old sound for a show, but uncertain how we could do this in the context of new material. We’ve both moved on so much, but we will not rule out any possibility currently.”

GODFLESH split up in April 2002 — six months after Green announced his departure from the group. “Regrettably it took until the day of leaving for a lengthy U.S tour for the realization [that the band was over] to finally take its toll on me,” Broadrick stated at the time. “Unfortunately, the finality of the decision and the responsibilities of making the decision proved too much for me to bear, and I collapsed under the weight. I found that without G.C. Green, GODFLESH is not GODFLESH, and him leaving proved to be an omen for me. I also feel that everything we originally intended or even imagined with GODFLESH we have done.”

Crappy quality but still nice to see. You can hella tell the technical difficulties. Justin said thered be visuals and there werent many of those. Plus the lighting was horrible

That footage is decent. I’d consider Birmingham though I might have other plans for after Aug, ruling it out. But Swans & Godflesh is essential.
