1001 Albums You must hear before smearing your face with mascara and joining an interpretive dance act
1001 albums you must hear before meeting your friends at the Buddhist Vegan restaurant in Chinatown at 9:30 on Wednesday
1001 Albums you must hear before getting that Ian Curtis tattoo you’ve secretly been pining for since last August
1001 Albums you must hear before scrawling anti-capitalist graffiti on the subway at 2am after attending a rave party with Cynthia and Ben at a warehouse owned by a mutual friend who worked at the same Dangerfield store as you once did.
1001 Albums you must hear before everybody else does so that as soon as those bands become popular you can act all jaded and indifferent because you were SO into them last summer…
1001 Albums you must hear before the landlord gives you and yr hipster doofus flatmates the arse…
Hipsters.

Wow…if I could ever be bothered to post on Twitter, this could easily be turned into one of those great hashtag “meme” thingys…you may be onto something here. “#1001Albums” could become some excellent, over-the-top social satire. Although it would probably inspire Pitchfork to co-opt it and create another stupid list, e.g. “1001 Albums To Hear After You’ve Contributed To The #1001 Albums Meme”
If you were anymore Hipster you’d write for Vice magazine and play bass in an indie/electro band with a skinny goth female vocalist and a Hispanic dude with leather pants and no shirt and you would name drop hipster doofus punk bands like The Germs or The Adolescents at any given opportunity and you’d smoke herbal cigarettes and wear Free Pussy Riot tees and you’d never eat meat and you’d take prescription Xanax and you’d be friends with at least one member of either The Knife or The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and you’d think M.I.A was the greatest indie act on the face of the planet…
I just sent the url for this page to three mates. All came back with two thumbs up. Asked me if “Peligro was some kind of internet anti-hero over there”.
When Peligro nails it he nails it like no one else I’ve ever encountered.

Anyway, I am loving this new Godflesh track. To me it sounds very Pure-era. That drum machine sound almost made me jizz. Love the little “weird” bit in the middle.
I definitely believe these guys will deliver the goods on this and the new lp.
I saw one of those stupid lists yesterday when i was reading an article about Led Zeppelin getting sued, it said “Top 10 Led Zeppelin albums”. Led Zeppelin only had 9 albums.

I picked up the EP today and the last song is shouty for whoever wanted that. It’s undeniably retro Godflesh for the most part (obviously better recording gear etc) but I can’t help but think they’ve just thrown the fans a starter before the main course.
Yeah, the material is old on the EP…I like the EP quite a bit…a nice return to form…some Pure era sounds in there for sure…The LP is gonna be a different animal though…just keep greasing your chops for it…will be worth the wait…
Why are the tracks being marketed as “Decline & Fall” 4 brand new tracks on a 23 minute mini album" if they’re actually old?
If they’re old it would make more sense. They sound like mediocre outtakes from ‘Pure’ era.
I feel like a modern Godflesh album could be amazing, incorporating some of the modern sounds that were developed in Broadrick’s recent projects, but this to me sounds like they’re just treading water doing a played out sound that we’ve all heard them do a lot before.
Why’s that?
I always wondered what happened between him and KM… they haven’t worked together in 10 years, but KM spoke very warmly of him in a recent interview, and JKF would really suit the sort of shows the Bug plays in London (dubstep & electro musos type crowd). Strange they’re going in such a similar direction yet don’t work together at all
I asked Justin about it recently…he has only nice things to say about KMart but says the possibility of them collaborating again is pretty remote…he basically alluded to the fact that they have very different lives now and that Godflesh and Jesu will take up all of his time for a good while to come…
Where is this new Godflesh album? Supposedly it’s out next month, but there’s been no news whatsoever. No artwork, no tracklisting, no previews, no nothing. And there’s only a month to go.
