Is everyone on this forum a goth?

He’s bad! He’s mad! and he carries a broom. Don’t mess around with… MR. WITCH!!!

The title of the compilation is a reference to the fact that many of these artists make this kind of music year-round. But Halloween is the one night where all fans open-minded fans of music will appreciate and enjoy these sounds.

I thought it was an obvious reference to the Ministry song.

Most musiacians tend to have friends or ex’s that were either dancers and/or pornstars…

Thanks for the remarks on my tattoos. Yes the one on my right arm is a combination Process and Floyd concept.

Yes, I have been inspired by the concept of Omega and the era of Mechanical Animals.

Not every tattoo is meant to say “this is what i am about”. Things can influence you in different ways.

I get ya bro, I was just baiting ya. I was just blasting Mechanical Animals the other day. Still awesome.

I’m just so fickle about tats. I can never decide what I’d get. Chances are I’ll be tatless forever.

also the pics in the OP seem more influenced by Halloween III: Season of the Witch to me for some reason. which is killer. it’s my top 3 Halloween’s…

gotta love the score. i love that synth madness

I have come to the conclusion that 95% of goths that exist these days are loser nerds. I base this on the people I saw at the local goth bar. I remember when goth bars were full of beautiful unique people. Now they are full of fat people with goth combovers. What happened?

Goth/Industrial hit a major peak in the late '90s (in Atlanta you could go to a goth related club event 6 nights out of the week), but the youth of the 21st Century just aren’t interested. There’s still a few bands that the kids are into - Mindless Self Indulgence, Birthday Massacre - but not enough to sustain a “scene” like there used to be.
Maybe there will be a revival at some point in the future. We shall see.

Haven’t been to a ‘goth/industrial’ night in over a year. I was never much of a goth scenester, but I hide my teenage years in shame from big spiky hair, and hair dye. Being a musician I ultimately cared more about the bands and the music than the image posturing/pseudo-elite club hierarchy.

Now a days if you want to see hot Goth girls then go to any large sci-fi convention. Its not all fat Klingons and stormtroopers anymore [;)]

Goths have ALWAYS been loser nerds. They just don’t seem to have the same unique loser nerdness about them these days that’s all.

NIN

Mindless Self Indulgence,

Really? I wouldn’t consider them Goth…Really?

Well, goth/industrial.
I’d say the two have been irrevocably fused since the late '80s at least.

NIN[/reply]

hahaha. I was thinking Manson, by NIN will fit in there nicely.

To promote an experimental compilation. Is there a point to your existence beyond whining on a message board?

If that were the case, it would still be cooler than dressing up like a witch and taking pictures of myself.

If the music is good, it should speak for itself. Just my opinion, though. Post a link to listen when it comes out.

I What was the decor of 688 like? I only ask because 688 is a Navy submarine class and I was wondering if there is a connection.
The 688 was named for the st. address I believe-sadly no submarine connection. It’s been around twice - once in the early '80s then again in early-mid '90s before closing for good. Pretty nondescript club from what I remember for all the legendary acts that played there in the early days. Another interesting place was the Metroplex, the home of Atlanta’s punk and hardcore scene in the '80s. I recall the Butthole Surfers actually lived there for awhile.

I moved to town in '97. It wasn’t officially called “688” at the time, but everyone still called it that anyway. It was still the place to go for all the goth/industrial/whatever bands that came to town. Most of the big (but not as big as, say, KMFDM or Pigface) names of the late '90s played there. Mentallo & the Fixer, Switchblade Symphony, Death In June, Spahn Ranch, Das Ich, etc. Got to dj there a couple of times.

Her and this dude I shared and office with used to discuss how things like Phasers and Teleporters work. I wanted to punch them.

They are nerd Gods, BUT STILL you gotta hand it to people like them, It’s those that love it so much they want to create it and then it moves from science fiction to science fact…look at the communicator… err I mean Cell phone. They already have the 3-d printer…
