How is this different from the tape that’s already been circulated?
is it better quality more songs?

That’s the same version that’s out there, I believe. Not the best sound and mostly the same as the album versions. 1 has the extra samples, making it slightly better. 12 is a better version as well. 4 is cut on a lot of versions and 11-13 are missing on several versions as well.
No idea what 9 is. Maybe Linda Summertime? I’ve never seen a version with 13 actual tracks - only 12.
they shud’ve fukkin released step/nursing home 12’’ versions
step 12’’ is crazy good
i just dl’ed that thing, the archive doesnt have track 9
and yes its the same old shitty quality 128kbps ‘demo’ tape
i mean its not a demo tape, its like an advance copy of an album.
and i just re-listened to step 12’’
fukkin great stuff, gimme that in studio quality
they shud’ve fukkin released step/nursing home 12’’ versions
We are in total agreement!

They could’ve both been on the Bad Blood along with Happy Dust. But Nursing Home is already pretty long.
EDIT: According to Wikipedia, Supermanic Soul was released as a single. Is there any truth to this?

No. it was never a single. Bad blood was the only thing released from darkside.

Sad. I don’t think Warner Bros. believed in the album. We’ve already discussed the genius of Dark Side many times and having these demos is a real treat (despite the song of my name sake getting cut off). I even found the shirt with the cover on eBay. I also saw promo copies going for cheap on there, as well as the Japanese version in near mint condition for a reasonable price. I actually like that some of those demos were sped up. Gives it a whole new feel. How Al doesn’t remember making such a masterpiece is beyond me.
barker should remember though, i think.
filthpig also had only 1 single…hm…
dsots had more promotional items associated with it though. i saw some big cardboard posters/ads for it on ebay.
Filth Pig had 2; The Fall and Lay Lady Lay. I saw 2 different posters for Dark Side on ebay earlier. I also found the 3 song Selections sampler. And asking Paul for storys from that era is on my bucket list.

Reload (Video Release), Lay Lady Lay, The Fall, Brick Windows (Promo Only)

The DSOTS promo flats are interesting because one of them features a pic not even in the booklet, but casts a whole different light as to whatever “message” they were trying to make with it in the first place. It was just a shot of some woman’s feet, tied up, sideways, like she’s laying on the floor hostage.
I dunno if it’s just some “cool” pic or whatever with nothing behind it, but it’s hard to fathom that this image was never even widely distributed in the booklet, but to endorse buying the CD?! If it were at my FYE on display, which it was, it really says something because trust me pushing the latest Ministry album was the LAST thing that store wanted to do. Music was really, really bad that year, at least if you went there as frequently as I did (was a brief mallrat).
So, if you buy that flat on eBay or browse it, you’ll see what I mean.
Thanks for posting this Revco! [cool]
Do you think the fat lady from the DSotS cover and the guy from the Relapse cover ever do it?
ah yes i forgot about layladylay single
im gettin old

This forum is the exact opposite of a bad girlfriend. You guys ALWAYS put out.
I’d thought I’d lost this forever. Thank you guys so much.
I had the full version of Eureka Pile MANY years ago, and it was simply a pitch or two up. [:)]
I remember seeing that poster with the woman’s feet on eBay, prolly through this site. I want it so bad.
grmpy: Are you yankin’ my chain, or is that legit? Either way, a stange sensation of <3

This thread is also a testimony to the fact that, while Warner Bros as a label can indeed suck unholy ass, they actually promoted this record a lot more than people think. Promo flats, PVC wallet promos, guest spots on “The Matrix” and “Universal Soldier 2” soundtracks…shit they almost made it to Ozzfest as well, though we can’t have it all can we.
It was pretty disappointing that although Sanctuary Records was, well, a sanctuary, they didn’t deliver on promoting their artists. I’m sure they paid well, though, there’s a reason why people like Morrissey and KMFDM alike joined their brand.
The record itself is a murky, depressing thing, it was a continuation of a sound that just added yet another five years to the public’s interest of what anyone could’ve expected. I loved it then and I love it now, time has been good to it and the new records have certainly made it seem brighter in comparison to creativity.

You have a point. As far as Ozzfest goes, very funny that Primus took their place.

KMFDM and Ministry each only lasted 2 albums on that label. KMFDM’s last was WWIII Live. A live album from the tour I saw them on that didn’t do my experience any justice. Ministry’s last was Rantology. Can we even call that an album? Point being that both of those seem like a big fuck you to that label.

Agreed and well put. I don’t think Al could make another album like this, even if Paul came back.
Live boots from the tour. Might’ve posted one of these before.
