I’m flying in on Thursday. Going to be a good weekend.
I also arrive on Thursday.
Cool to see the Burton C. Bell news!!! I’m going to be there Thursday night as well… we need to pre-party!
See everyone there…
I saw Bile last night in Ottawa. I’ve been waiting 16 years to see them and they are some of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Spoke with them for a better part of an hour before the show, they signed every single Bile CD that I have and took pics. (see below)
They mentioned they are playing Cold Waves as well. If you get a chance, check them out. They are spectacular live. Really heavy, and really fast. Great stuff. In my top 10 shows of all time.
Definitely - thanks for the recommendation. I’m meeting up with Jimmy - anyone else up for some meetup, please message him on here.

Yes indeed! Ghost is me!
Yes indeed! Ghost is me!
right on, man. you look like a right nice Canadian neighbor.
Glad you had a good time. I’m a fan of some Bile. I was introduced to them Via the movie strangeland. I thought they sounded cool and had a great appearance to them. I own several CDs but none of them have the songs from strangeland. disappointed.

Yeah - I’m definitely going to try to organize some sort of meet up… I missed last year’s Cold Waves - but at Retrospectacle we met up at the Gingerman next door to the Metro. Does anyone else have a spot in mind? I’m coming from NYC and I am only slightly familiar with the area. If you want to be part of the meet up, just message me…
-Jimmy (actually James)
Caught this earlier today–Paul Barker and Jason Novak on WGN chatting about this weekend’s event:
Thanks!
Anyone attend last night? I wasnt able to make it this year.
Yup… Was in attendance last night with Afra… Overall - pretty fucking awesome!
Plague Bringer - missed them! So bummed! Afra said they killed it.
Evil Mothers - pretty good
Clay People - fucking awesome
Shrew - I love these guys - but vocal sound was a lil off- 3 guitars on stage definitely had an awesome effect
16 Volt - tight as hell - Eric had great stage presence - just really awesome and crowd ate it up
Iron lung corporation - for me, highlight of the night. Just so fucking awesome. Wrapped up their set with a cover of Join in the Chant by Nitzer Ebb and Eighties by Killing Joke with Paul Barker on bass and Burton C Bell on Vocals
Prong - pretty tight - a good mix of tracks with 2 from latest album. Burton came out to sing Snap Your Fingers…
Overall pretty awesome - psyched for tonight!!!
Yeah, it was a good night. 16Volt was great. I hadn’t seen Prong since. . .'90? Wow.
I saw 16 Volt in KC Wednesday night, and they were amazing. It was a small and intimate show that was hardly publicized. Best part, it was free.
Evil Mothers are still together?
Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Trent Reznor had discovered them and Martin Atkins had discovered Marilyn Manson…
Always liked 16 Volt. Met them a few times and they were very cool.

Manson probably would have hired an assassin to kill Martin after no royalty checks came in. Then, there would be a really bad TV movie about it.
The revco set was pretty good, i was really happy to hear cattle grind live, and it sounded pretty awesome. Jason Novak and Burton C Bell tried to sing Attack ships, but I think they were having technical probs: I couldn’t hear Burton vox and Jason’s kept kinda cutting in and out, then during what I assume would’ve been the chorus, a drum/sample track would play way louder than everything else. Other than that it was pretty good sound throughout.
Also got Chris to sign me book of his (thanks bro) told him I would have brought al’s book for him to sign if i had thought of it in time (lulz), and bought a cd, got to chat with Duane briefly, and drunkenly gushed to Paul about how awesome it was that he played Kraftwerk for me at a DJ gig at neo one time and how awesome Bells Into Machines is sounding. My time with afra is (as always) all too brief.

Douglas Mcarthy: I had no idea what to expect going into this set, I was only familiar with Nitzer Ebb, but it was actually quite good. Dude can really still belt it out vocally, and he did this really cool song where he had two mics, and one was all distorted and shit, and he would kinda wail along with this very heavy polished beats and kinda soaring synths behind it and would fade between the two mics…it was really cool and now i gotta start digging this stuff up.
