I vote put it on iTunes.
So, from the link above, it looks like you get a cd single in a standard jewel case, a photocopied piece of paper with signatures on it, a sticker, and a couple of 90 cent buttons… how much for these fabulous prizes?
And, are these CDRs?
I too am fine about the limited editions as long as the songs are otherwise available. I bought Pentland Firth Howl on CD and on vinyl for home listening and thought the packaging was very nicely done, in a very DIY way; it was a really nice job. But this Plague Grinder thing with it’s stickers and buttons and red ribbon looks surprisingly 13 planet, which is lame… all they need to do is call it a “grab bag” instead of a box set.
But the big thing that I’m thinking about this is: why?
I understand Connelly wants to support independent record stores, I went to 2 of the Reckless locations when I was in Chicago and they were great (got a Nihilist Spasm Band re-release… a fantastic Canadian band), but why go back and do Burning Inside? That dead horse doesn’t need further whipping. An original would have got me interested, but this just puzzles me.
THIS is what I’m interested in (from Connelley’s message board):
"Very excited to report that I finished a new album today!! Recorded and mixed at SEMAPHORE in Chicago and mixed by SANFORD PARKER,
the album is called “HOW THIS ENDS”
Personally, I’d love to hear it.
I’d just rather hear it as an inexpensive .mp3 rather than an expensive cd-r with a bunch of stuff I don’t really need.
Maybe he just felt like doing it. Kind of like how Barker felt like doing Flowering Blight. If he is only selling 100 copies it isn’t like he is trying to make a career comeback out of it. I am sure he will easily find 100 people who will appreciate it without questioning his life/business decisions.
He’s a big boy… he can take it.
I’m still a very big fan, just don’t find this an interesting idea.

If there’s an mp3, i’d buy/download it on the spot.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the release format has much more to do with Plague Bringer and their preferences than with CC. Plus it’s on a noise label; most noise labels/bands aren’t very concerned with reaching a large audience (because they won’t), so they focus instead on making a cool product for the people who are interested in their niche.
Okay, if you want to buy it, I suggest you go to www.reckless.com, the plague bringer guys really did a nice job, it IS a cdr, but the disc itself has really high quality printing on it, there are only 100, and I think even if you live in Poland, you can just place your order now, and you’l get it, I’m sure
Just ordered it. Shipping was a bit steep but $10 for the single was pretty reasonable so I don’t mind. I’m pretty excited to hear this.
i’m pretty sure it’s “suck it and see”
Maybe he didn’t think 100 people would buy it if it was just an MP3. How many copies of Flowering Blight were sold? I can’t imagine that many people bought that. But, stuff it in a shiny box and have Gerta sign Pauls name on it and I bet you get a whole pile of people buying it. So, maybe Chris figures, hey, no way 100 people are going to buy this rehashed song so I’ll stick it in a metal box and see what happens. Maybe he doesn’t want to support MP3s because he is smart and knows if one person buys it, 1000 people will get it for free.
I am not a musician but I do sell software that I write on the internet. I have found that no matter how low the price, if people can copy it for free, that is what they will do. You can charge $1 for a $200 piece of software and people will still copy it for free. In fact, they will justify copying it by saying “If it is only $1 per copy, the author isn’t making any money off of it and won’t miss my $1”
Maybe this is Chris’s way of saying “SOCKET IN C! SALUTE ME!”
Or maybe I am just making crap up.
Well said. Which is why I’m in love with Claus Larsen lately.

Can’t see spending money on a CdR. Sorry Chris I can’t justify spending any significant (5 or more dollars)amount of money on something I can make myself. I hope it sells I really do. Just not to me.

Just so we’re clear: I am not PERSONALLY selling this, it’s my friends band, and they asked me to contribute, I am simply passing on the information, I am not bothered if you buy it or not . It is a lovely package though, but, like I said, just letting you know.

I know your not personally selling them. (That was a generic “I’m sorry”) I was just putting in my 2 cents. I may pick up a $1 download if they make an Mp3 available for purchase. I’d love to hear your pipes again on something harder than your own projects.

so many rude broke people on here…ORDERED!
I grabbed it at lunch. Nice package.
I bet you would like to grab my nice package.
Best… post… ever!
No really, once I bought it I thought it was worth 10 bucks. Nothing about it feels cheap. Song is a bit different.
Can you describe the song in more detail?
#79 has arrived. You are such a crooner, Chris. Good stuff. Thanks again for posting this.
