How is she able to run Wax Trax!? I thought TVT owned it. How is that not intellectual infringement and what not?
Pretty sure it’s Julia. She threw the Retrospectacle, she’s the one behind this documentary. . .

Does TVT still exist? Perhaps when they dissolved, the rights reverted back to the Nash/Flesher estate. And I’m fairly sure that she would be the executor.
WAX 9195 was KMFDM’s Help Us Save Us Take Us Away CDS, hard to believe that was 22 years ago.

TVT went bankrupt. She was probably able to get it back during the bankruptcy process. Just guessing, though.
I thought all of the assets float in limbo until someone buys them… Oh well, not really important I guess.
This is the best news, I will buy the hell out of anything Wax Trax releases and I don’t even have a turntable any more!

I pre-ordered that vinyl a few days ago… I don’t have a turntable either! But digital download is included. How could I not support my favorite label of all time?
There is a great interview with Julia Nash that was posted a few days ago… she explains some of what is hoped to achieve with this release and Wax Trax! in the future…

Anybody else have issues ordering from the WaxTraxchicago site? I can’t even contact them from the page to report it!

I’ve ordered several times and never had an issue.

I recently had trouble, contacted them about it, but never really got a response.
After some trouble shooting, I figured out it was because I was using Safari on my Mac. The gf uses Mozilla, so I just used hers to order.
I get paid in a week. I’ll probably order it then. hopefully it’s not too small of a run and they still have some left.
From the Julia interview:
“We had been approached for years by fans and some past artists about doing something regarding new releases. It didn’t make sense. What people should remember, even now, is that Wax Trax! was 100% the Jim & Dannie show. You can’t just slap the name on anything, call it Wax Trax! and have it mean something.”
I wonder if that might possibly be a dig at the “WTII Records” founded by a former employee of WaxTrax! proper?
The origin story of that label is recounted on their badly written Wikipedia page, although I’m skeptical that WTII was in fact launched with Dannie Flesher’s “blessing” as they say there.
And that’s mainly because they say on their Wiki-promo page that they “wanted to create a label that would try to rekindle the spirit of Wax Trax!’s earlier years.” If that was really true, they would be emulating the original WaxTrax! model of creating an audience rather than providing for one that already exists. They’d be looking to sign artists who work in a style for which there isn’t a clear precedent, rather than focusing on genres that have had a reliable niche market since at least 1992.
I don’t have a problem with WTII’s aesthetics, but I definitely don’t think they are heir apparent to the “spirit of WaxTrax!'s earlier years.” And so if I have to choose between Julia’s re-booted WaxTrax! or them, it’s an easy choice for me.
Man, I remember being mildly excited about WTII, and then slowly realizing that it was treading the same bland territory as Metropolis. I think I picked up 2-3 discs from them before shrugging my shoulders and moving on. You’re right; they might have had a similar sound to the biggest WaxTrax! bands, but they’re missing the groundbreaking, original quality of the label.

Yeah, and…I guess if they’re fulfilling an emotional need for their audience, and helping them cope with the uncertainties of life, more power to 'em.
But they seem like they’re limiting themselves in a way that the classic RevCo, TKK lineups etc. weren’t.
It reminds me a little of the last time I went to an industrial-goth nite at Chicago’s Smart Bar (admittedly looooong ago), and saw a significant number of people being turned away at the door for not conforming to the dress code as laid down by ‘Scary Lady Sarah,’ or whoever the DJ / hostess was. Mind you, this wasn’t advertised as a fetish night or something like that where dress code was really the purpose for the party.
I kept thinking, well, would they turn away En Esch if he showed up in his trademark cop shirt and polka-dot tights? Or Luc van Acker in his tri-corner hat and “don’t mess with Texas” shirt? The ability to say “fuck off” with a laugh, and to laugh at yourself as well as society, was as much a part of WT as the dark stuff, and it’d be a shame for that part of the presentation to be forgotten.

Got this yesterday.
Mine’s a black vinyl. [:(]
It’s raining Cocks! I just (well, finally) got my copy of the new Cocksure 12" from the WaxTrax mail order. Plain black vinyl for me too, but kicking tunes in any color.
I have to say, I kind of like the inner sleeve better than the cover design, but that is just my inclination towards “Op” art I guess.
Here’s something odd though - I also had an original vinyl of “You Goddamned Son of a Bitch” included in the order (I never owned this on wax, despite it being one of my favorite albums.) The copy I have is a misprint; on the back of the gatefold sleeve Attack Ships on Fire is listed as “Attack AHIPS on Fire.”
Do any of you experts know if that’s anything approaching a rarity? Checked it against its discogs page, and it also appears I’ve got center labels on the records that are multi-colored instead of the monochrome ones they have scanned there.

I just checked mine, and I have the same spelling error. (Never noticed!) And mine was purchased way back in the 1991 range.
