[reply][reply]im loving this stuff. its all a part of the clear growth he has gone through. now im even more excited for the next DOWN EP.
How did you like Down IV/Purple EP? I thought it was excellent, really enjoyed it. I listened to the solo album again on Friday night, whew, that’s some craaaaazy sheeeit. Very good though. I’ll also be interested to see how they do it live, it’s so nuts. The timings are insane and all the stop/starts.[/reply]
well, i am a picky ass when it comes to DOWN. i LOVE the first 2 albums, and i was very let down with the third. so when i heard they were going for an EP style deal, i figured it would be more solid (less filler), and i was right. the only problem i ended up having with Purple is that it is just too damn short. but Phil has been doing his due diligence recently, and making me all excited for his new stuff.
in fact, im going to throw on NOLA right now. haha.[/reply]
i’m right with you man. first two are great, 3rd was a disappointment and the purple ep was good.
Haha, i love Down III, very different from the 1st 2, i like them all. Did you get the live CD/DVD? I thought it was great, very well put together. Plenty of Phil making a tit of himself [:)]
it was different, but that wasnt what snagged me up about it so much… it just felt more… routine. less brave, you know? but maybe that is just my headspace when i heard it.
My friend is in agreement with you both as well, although he hated the production on II so much he gave me his copy, he thought it was too “hot”, which i never got to be honest.
he sounds pretty good right mow. the 2nd video has pretty clear sound. i’m sure it won’t be long bedore his voice is shot again as his live vocals come & go in phases but he’s pulling it off for now.
the album has really grown on me with repeated listens too. Battallion of Zero is pretty sweet.
fast forwarded thru the tracks. the amount of digital clipping is insane - you can literally hear it all the time, especially when there is even only one guitar playing some riff inbetween. man…
