An Evening with Kraftwerk

YES, that’s it! Brilliant show, that '81 Tokyo one. Super quality and a great set of songs. Numbers & Computer World are particularly strong in that set. They still have a bit of that pre-digital era rawness to them. Their stuff now is just too pristine and sequenced sounding. I was dismayed to hear that they’ve started running the show off of laptops instead of “playing” everything live and twiddling their knobs in realtime.

IMO sone of the best “recent” KW gigs were their final few shows before they “retired” (I believe there are a few small German shows from '93 or '94 that made the bootleg rounds a few years back) and then their Tribal Gathering “comeback” show from '97. They played a few untitled songs there at TG that were never released officially or heard again. It was sort of EBM/bleepy and very well done and was also our first glimpse of the cool “Tron” suits.

Here’s one of the unreleased, untitled songs:

wow.only been done a couple times before this show.
later

yeah, that was awesome.

i’d be interested to see if there are any setlist changes, since they were “headlining”, correct? would this impact their set time?

will check.

sounds like a similar setlist, esp. tee and autobahn and mensch machine. can’t get a final setlist, but did ask if it was half german/english.the answer was yes.

Most unbelievable show i’ve ever seen…
