Hahahaha! Yeah… that’s the reason.

I am not that wealthy. I received some cash from the sale of a family business that I had a share in. But it certainly wasn’t millions. I took the cash, borrowed some more and bought a timber business that I thought could provide a solid investment.

Problem is, the thing had been run sloppily and there were holes everywhere. Cash sales that weren’t recorded, assets that had been bought under another business name, general ledgers that had incorrect information in it, tax that was owed and not disclosed to me at the time of purchase…that kind of thing. It was a real nightmare scenario.

Using what little business knowledge I had, a set upon getting the operation not only up and running, but turning a healthy profit against some stiff competition - all the while studying for a business degree in the evenings. Often time I would sleep in the office - the staff would turn up at 8:30 and find me asleep on a mattress on the floor. I was a nervous wreck, but I sourced some good staff who were reliable and who had nerves of steel. Couldn’t have done it without them and they remain loyal friends to this day.

Eventually, after about 5 years, we started to see some real return for all our hard work and made a name for ourselves in an industry that does not suffer fools gladly. We had an offer from overseas investors that would set me up for years to come. I wanted to explore other avenues and do other things with my life - so I took them up on the offer. Sold the business and bought some land out in the sticks. Built a property to live in and another to rent out. Got a job as a market analyst for a wine company. And that’s pretty much it.

If that makes me some kind of spoilt brat, Richie Rich kid then so be it. I could have done anything with that cash in the beginning. If I had been irresponsible I’d have nothing to show for it. Hookers? Blow? Fast cars? A yacht? I don’t think so. I despise shit like that anyway. I hate the yuppie jock mentality. I went to school with cunts like that. Hate them.

Not sure why I have to “prove” myself to you Grmpy. You obviously have me all figured out anyway. You seem to know everything about me, even though I fed you bullshit over the years just to get a rise out of you. You take everything so seriously - that’s why you get so much shit from other forum members.

But anyway, I await your inevitable response where you take everything I have just written and turn it on its head for your own twisted purpose.

Or maybe he’s just grumpy because he’s grmpy.

that’s more than likely it. I’ve been like this way before atom showed up and started throwing tantrums over it.

Wait, I thought everything was fine until I showed up and started causing you to throw tantrums?:

No, problems 'til you showed up.
Face it, thoughtless, you’re the problem.

That’s great and certainly respectable and most importantly the first time I’ve ever seen you give credit to anyone else or even acknowledge that you owe your success to anyone other than yourself. I hope you included your workers in on a little bit of the wealth through your sale, considering their hard work they put in as well and even more importantly, gave them individual credit for their work.

If that makes me some kind of spoilt brat, Richie Rich kid then so be it.

That does not, but that’s also the first time you’ve told this version of the story. every other time it was “me me me me me me I I I I I I I I I I” with no mention of anybody else’s sacrifices.

Hate them.

See? we got some shit in common. although, I would point out fast cars and yachts aren’t “nothing to show for it.” it’s still fast cars and yachts, although, not my preferences either but it’s still something.

Not sure why I have to “prove” myself to you Grmpy.

you didn’t prove anything to me it’s more about explaining your bullshit from your earlier posts to let everyone know you’re really not an asshole. you’ve posted this story like three times now but this is the first time you don’t sound like an asshole about it.

I even had a couple of your friends on the board PMing me telling me that you really weren’t as big of an asshole in real life as you were on the board. So it wasn’t just me.

You obviously have me all figured out anyway. You seem to know everything about me, even though I fed you bullshit over the years just to get a rise out of you.

when you post the same assholish/greedy type stuff over an over again what is one to think?

You take everything so seriously - that’s why you get so much shit from other forum members.

Not nearly as seriously as many would think. And i don’t really get shit from other members. carmangary and I bust each others balls on guns I wouldn’t call that “getting shit” from him. I have no ill will towards him for his opinion. I don’t agree with it but I think he’s a stand up guy and I don’t mind talking shit to him or he to me about our views. Same with Prologue. You were really the closest one I had a genuine dislike for and that was more for your apparent inability to see past your good fortune while denouncing others.

I take that back, i had an extreme dislike for void back when he was smearing shit on his face and acting as if it were art. all of his “shock” bullshit really put me off because it was really not creative at all and he would act or believe that it was so profound when it was clearly below moronic.

I get shit from Atom cause he came in hear bashing established members and I called him out on it and he’s been throwing a tantrum ever since.
He’s entertainment nothing more nothing less. I encourage his sad little posts it gives me something to laugh about when I’m killing time on prongs.

But anyway, I await your inevitable response where you take everything I have just written and turn it on its head for your own twisted purpose.

sorry to disappoint you or maybe you’re still reading negatively and I have not disappointed.

either way this is much better a picture as to who you are and what you’ve done with yourself. Why would I want to even try to diminish this?

you’re right everything was fine til you showed derailing every thread with your hard on for me. (Minus the pasta one but you joined in too and as you pointed out there was an invitation to do so, so it was a joint effort)
That doesn’t mean I wasn’t just grmpy about shit.

man, your black and white reading of the world is really holding you back.
you take everything so serious, bro. you need to relax.

I hope you included your workers in on a little bit of the wealth through your sale, considering their hard work they put in as well and even more importantly, gave them individual credit for their work.

The other staff stayed on, while my position was taken over by new management. Before I left they all got bonuses and pay rises. Since I left however (back in 2008) there has been another change in management. The people who took it over were very self centred and arrogant and many of the original staff left soon after. One of them even has a court case against them for alleged bullying that occurred on the job.

A bit sad seeing how we all worked so hard to get the venture and up and running.

See? we got some shit in common. although, I would point out fast cars and yachts aren’t “nothing to show for it.” it’s still fast cars and yachts, although, not my preferences either but it’s still something.

I did buy a nice home theatre and a kickass italian sofa though. I love that sofa. I think it’s the best 10 grand I ever spent. So yes, occasionally I splurged…but who wouldn’t?

Oh and I bought an autographed first vinyl pressing of Nevermind. Cost me a fortune! Thanks, Kurt!

I even had a couple of your friends on the board PMing me telling me that you really weren’t as big of an asshole in real life as you were on the board. So it wasn’t just me.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure I know who PM’d you.

I didn’t know Italians were known for furniture. I thought they were just exotic cars and wine… hmm, who knew?

Kinda shocked at your vinyl. with your love of the noise genre I certainly would expect Nevermind to be much too poppy.

It was more than one and it doesn’t matter anymore. the over all point of their PMs was really them just defending you. Saying, you really weren’t presenting yourself accurately, which, now that this has come to light, was completely the case.

anyway, I see the wealth (pun in tended) of your accomplishments you won’t see me criticize you anymore, unless I’m just busting your balls. [;)]
