Oh, I didn’t watch the video and I wasn’t sure if al had named a group specifically that sucks in it. And I thought you and al were at least on speaking terms since I think I remember reading he invited you to the last sucker tour in chicago.
I wasn’t being an asshole (this time) I just didn’t realize you were speaking specifically about the musicians that don’t collaborate with him anymore.
al’s probably not liked anyone ever. rather chagrined at the idea that pb and i were getting married.
i specifically asked the tall one prior to our las vegas nuptials, what’s up with the vibe i’m getting from king cubano. he said oh, al likes you.
no. he didn’t. if he had, the conversation years later would have been different.
personal note to al: in the future, please don’t sic your current dog on me ever.

Gerda … Since it was I who initially was in PB’s position of being AJ’s ‘right-hand man’ (FWIW) I wondered how Paul ever managed to cope with it for so long. In less than three years with the band, I quit 3 times…and was asked to come back 3 times (the 3rd time I declined). It would have been difficult for me to maintain my sanity. I give Paul a lot of credit.

Damn man! Three times? What would make you come back to a band that you quit twice? Many people, they quit, and they’re done.
paul and al’s collaborrative effort worked. they did the dance. you can look at the songwriting splits forever, and there is so much more. paul was where he needed to be. (oftentimes, the splits were … what they were.) thanks senor wemp. hope this brings other memories to mind for you.(i’m by no means being bitchy or anything. you know.).

There was never a problem for me collaborating with Al, either. We probably wrote a song or two a week in the first year of the band’s existence. My memory is that Al enjoyed collaborating but not giving credit. However, I found Al’s business acumen severely lacking. I couldn’t entrust him with my future any longer than necessary.
all’s i remember of al’s business acumen is he never payed his parking tickets in chicago, whilst using paul’s van… or MY van.(well, paul’s.)-i’m sure the caricature of al does not remember, that we picked up the tabs for that shit and much much more serious. i was duped. i paid to get peeps outta jail. and then… i quit answering the phone/jail calls. what fun. al maybe doesn’t remember. i do. i remember EVERYTHING. i don’t believe al even remembers tucker from that time.ask him.

I can’t ever recall him driving. He claimed to not know how. Even when we were playing in Denver and his folks let him use a car so we could party up in Breckenridge…Al insisted that I drive. I doubt I could have been his passenger anyway. [:)]
no he didn’t! and if he did that was a long time ago…he doesn’t like me, or anyone else he has ever played with, apparantly
I was just trying to be funny, not bitchy
hugs!!
Grmpy’s easily confused.
He was probably thinking of Al asking you to be on what eventually became “Cocked & Loaded” as recounted in your book (smart move turning that down, btw).
Am I right in thinking Chris was asked to appear (and did?) on the Fornicatour circa '03? If that is the case then that is the last involvement CC had with AJ?

I am seriously reading some surreal shit right here.
Let alone for the fact Al was saying he ‘couldn’t’ drive, and then I’m reading old interviews where he reckons he grew up around racetracks and it’s a known fact he had a pretty respectable car collection…
hilarious scenes of paul trying to teach alejandro to ride a motorcycle come to mind. I know how to ride and am licensed to do so. guess some people think the mechanics of riding are jumping on a bike and saying “arrgh”. uh. no. and you have to use both hands and both feet, especially with older models. my first was a 1971 black and chrome ducati 350. had to be “bump” started. yessuh…
in the jourgenson world, there was a beautiful avanti which became toast. my favorite in the collection. so pretty. how on earth do you wreck something which design-wise looks so good.
