Al Jourgensen is Creating SHIT.

The venue looks great.
I checked out their website out of curiosity a month or two back when I was wondering what type/size place it was (since it was obvious that tickets were NOT selling well).

Do they sell bro food???

From a purely cynical/business perspective, I don’t see why he just doesn’t release the SMM material as a Ministry album. Not like he has to worry about tarnishing Ministry’s reputation at this point and the name is worth another 10-20 sales. If he really wants to be a purist, he can hack up some more drunken recordings of M. Scaccia and throw them over the mix.

I only say this because I have a strong suspicion this will be the case…

A friend of mine in Chicago, says they’re now listed as $42, down from $77 originally.

Clarification: My friend scored these tickets so cheap via Groupon.

Groupon.

Wow.

Just the word “groupon” gives me douche chills…kind of like “selfie” or “fleek”…makes the bile rise in my throat…

[reply]People are going to pay the full price of a ticket for one song?
ridiculous!

No, actually the show is selling so poorly that the tickets have been reduced. A friend of mine in Chicago, says they’re now listed as $42, down from $77 originally.

And remember, this is an NYE event, where normally every bar/club doubles their charges.[/reply]
Still too much for the promise of the same old set list with one “new” song.

I think they used to, but The DudeBro Palace is a competing music venue right down the street, and Chicago zoning laws are very strict about how much Bro food can be sold within one square mile of the city. Obtaining a vendor’s license for Bro food sales is pretty tricky business unless you grease the palms of your local alderman.

I hate to stifle a good bro food convo, but how do we know the tickets aren’t selling well? Because of social media promoted ticket discounts and Groupons? I think that’s modern concert promotion.

Honestly, correct me if I’m wrong. Doesn’t Ministry do the show for a flat fee that can be exceeded by ticket sales? So, the venue/promoter says, we can do, I dunno, 20 grand and we’ll cut you a percentage of ticket sales that exceed that amount? That’s how they book the band, no? Then the venue gives the promoter a cut and profits from the bar.

You don’t slash ticket prices in half if you’ve only got 10 left to sell. You only do that if you’ve got large quantities left to sell.

And Groupon? Groupon is the last gasp of a dying restaurant. At least here in LA, if you’re running a promotion on there, you are most likely on your way out.

Fine, but does Ministry lose money or the venue/promoter?

They played Chicago on the last tour, was it a sell out or well attended? Certainly, they would use those sales as a projection for a NYE gig. Ratchet up the ticket price solely because it’s NYE, not Ministry. There’s a million things to do in Chicago on NYE, anyone expecting a sold out Ministry gig has unrealistic expectations.

Fairly certain the promoter would be the one taking the hit.

And in turn would be less likely to book them for that large of a venue next time. Or book them at all.

Yes, the poor sales theory is mostly speculation on my part, but somewhat educated speculation. That, and the last time they played here in Los Angeles, the venue was half empty.

At the Vegas show, aside from a few of my long time uberfan nerd friends, almost everyone I chatted with before and after the show got tickets for free or as some super promo thing. Tons of people were getting them for super cheap at the Anaheim gig too (Grumpy’s came free when he bought a record, hahaha).

And here’s me like . . . “Shit. I paid $90.”

Haha! Yeah, I paid like $90 each for those first tier pit tickets. Stupid fanboy.

just think of it as you buying my ticket too. Thanks acid cripple. Youre swell for doing that.

When they came through Dallas the gig was a little more than half full. I paid $69.69 and they were going for around $40 week of show.

I loved the venue they played, but it was obvious to me they belonged in a smaller venue.

We paid $40 on that most recent tour…small venue in Ft.Lauderdale…

House of Blues in Vegas is not a large venue, and it was no where near filled either. You could look up at the balcony area and, where it would usually be packed with people looking over the rail, you could see a person or two every 10-15 feet or so.

I must have missed out, Ministry’s facebook mentioned today tickets 50% off for Chicago, but code wouldn’t work for me.

Edit: codes working now. Strange venue for Ministry to play but probably nothing else available on that date. Who do you think came up with idea for nye show? Had to be promoter right?

Your guess is as good as mine, but I think his toothy Librarian is pushing him on a lot of this stuff. She’s taken over all the social media stuff and is running this retarded Patreon shebackle, too.

Who? Is there a new girlfriend-manager in Al’s life?
