So gay.
Why do people always lose sight of the real issue? It’s not a matter of him not playing “Work for Love” or not playing “Stigmata” anymore. It’s the fact that he doesn’t change things up AT ALL. Night after night, tour after tour, year after year . . . . for 10 years. THE. SAME. EXACT. SONGS.
I’d be totally stoked if he just played DIFFERENT songs from the last 10 years (and, yes, I too would much prefer he play more “pre-Dubya” Ministry).
Heck, mix it up a little from show to show even.
But, no, I’m not going to fund someone who in 10 years couldn’t even bother changing the set list.
Rip on Metallica (because, hey, all the cool kids do) all you like, but they don’t pull this shit. If you go see Metallica 3 nights in a row you will get 3 different shows. They have almost 35 years of material and are not afraid to use it.
Ministry has 35 years of material . . . and Al is going to give you the same 10 songs from the last 11 years that he has played at every show.
Then he’s going to play you 3-4 songs that you’ve heard at every single show for the last 20-30 years . . . “So What”, “Just One Fix”, “Thieves”, “NWO”.
I go to every tour.
I buy every album.
I wear the shirts.
I’ve spent many $1000’s of dollars on this band.
And we’re supposed to believe that blindly throwing money at him for a monthly email or web video is going to make him suddenly become a creative juggernaut? Screw that.
He should consider actually letting a donation mean something. With every $3/ month that someone donates to this shitshow, they should get a vote on a song that Ministry has to put in their setlist. I guarantee it will look a lot different than what he gives us each year and claims we demanded.
As previously discussed, we are in complete agreement. And not only is it the same damn songs, it’s in the same damn order. 3 from the last album, then 3 from the one before that, and 3 from the one before that. . .
So tired.
I’m sure he’d blame the electronics for the repetition. The backing tracks are programmed in a specific order that he probably can’t change night to night.

It even drives the rest of his band nuts. They want to play other stuff as much as we want to hear it.
Mikey was pretty pissed, actually, regarding the playlist for the “Relapse” tour. They had a rehearsal space IN Al’s compound so he could just get out of bed, walk about 20 feet, and be there. Sin, Mikey, Aaron, and the gang were there every day honing the songs and getting shit nice and tight, practicing, along with the usuals, “Double Tap”, “Hero” and another oldie or two I can’t recall.
Then right before the first gig Al’s like, “Nope. Nope.” crossed off any game changers and went back to Setlist 101.
As probably the only guy on Earth who really loved “RELAPSE” I was sad to see that all of those tracks got axed this last time around too . . . . in favor of the shit that has worn out its welcome long, long ago.
For a band that used to pride itself on having a voice of social and political relevance, can someone please point out that Al is still campaigning against George Jr. . . . . . . . 7 years after his term has completed.
And like I said at the after party in Anaheim, Sin told me they rehearsed “The Missing”, “Deity” and “The Fall” before this tour. He thought he had Al talked into it. . .and then he changed his mind.
So gay.

I really wanna hear the fall live. My wife actually made a sign requesting it during the masterbatour and he mouthed the words “tomorrow night” to us. what luck, we’re going to both shows. We busted out our sign again the next night and boy was his face red when he got caught not playing it. haw haw haw [:|]
Thank you. Yes. I’m hearing “that riff!!!” in my head right now as you helped me recall the moment.[/reply]
Just remember that when you can’t think of the name of the song it’s because it’s THE MISSING song… get it?
If Al really wants to make money, he could have those 3 rehearsed but not played songs (or others determined by fan vote) available at each venue, if fans at each venue raise enough revenue for him. He has said he doesn’t want to be a human jukebox, but would the extra dollars do it for him? He could possibly raise thousands at each show. In this world of “extras” available to fans, would anybody participate in that? I agree with everybody else, show us your spontaneity Al!
Aren’t Ministry’s limited setlists related to most of their songs being owned by other people who are no longer on good terms with the band? I thought Al played the same oldies every show because he’s only paid permission to play a few of them.

No.
He can play any of those songs he wants to.
He just doesn’t.
I’m not sure how it works regarding making live albums and DVD’s and such, but for concerts . . . yeah, he’s golden, but just a big prick.

He’s a member of ASCAP he can play whatever the fuck he wants on stage. now if he wants to record it and make money off of it then yeah that’s some royalty money but just playing it means nothing in terms of dollars owed.
