Yeah, so far Thump is just a lot of talk.
S:7 Episode 9. “Inmate or Civilian”
As soon as I saw the title I knew we were gonna see Carlos go further over the edge.
How about Pocket’s stand-up, though? She seems cool as fuck and I would probably steal some cars with her for shits and giggles.
So, Thump is back and Carlos is out (though it almost looked like they have a slight tease that the might be putting Carlos back in too). I hope Bullrider drops Thump hard. It is also funny to see that Nick is gonna get his one-on-one with Thump. When they were tangled you can really see the size difference between those two, and I don’t think that’s gonna work out well for Nick who’s been real comfy under Carlos’ umbrella until now.
Im halfway through this one and I’m officially sick of Carlos ’ fucking bullshit…
Apparently Farrakhan and his boys were completely done with him too.
I would have liked to see him spiral further out of control, but pulling him was totally the right call. I think he was irredeemable at that point. He contributed nothing to the program and just got way too far up his own ass, giving zero fucks about any “mission” or objective and caring solely about his own silly ego and jail status. They already warned him and it made no difference, so I don’t think they could have expected him to suddenly make a turnaround.
By contrast, Darius is cool as fuck. Dude legitimately wants to make a positive difference where he can and gives of himself to try and help others in a fucked environment. That’s a dude that I think anyone would be blessed to be around and have in their life.
Rose and Trinity aren’t really getting much done, but they’re decent enough and will probably be of value with their insight and observations, regardless of how passively it may all be absorbed.
I was surprised to see that we’d just had Episode 9. It really doesn’t seem like we’ve gotten very far in any stories, but I guess it’s a bit skewed solely from the fact that they burned the first 2-3 weeks in that stupid quarantine lockdown nonsense. I don’t know how much everyone has left in their terms, but I’m guessing they only have a few weeks left.
For now, I’m just going to pray fervently . . . . Dear Lord, please hear my prayer and grant us this one request . . . that we get to see Bullrider dissect Thump in a most graphic and merciless manner. Amen.
Yeah really glad to see the end of Carlos…he was becoming unbearable…from the jump you could tell he was there for the wrong reasons…good riddance…
Yeah Darius is the best of this bunch…and he engages these guys enough to get them to genuinely listen to him and try to learn and get some advice on the tools they can use to re-build when they get back on the outside…
I was kind of zoning out during the other segments, like the whole open mic thing etc…just doesn’t hold my interest…
It was retarded. They did a “talent show” and then Trinity read some poem that she wrote 10 years ago. I was kind of okay with the “yeah, let’s all have fun and celebrate each other” as a morale-raising team-building exercise, but then when it got to her turn and she did some recycled prose the jaded part of me just reverted back to seeing it as a way for her to put herself on stage, haha. That said… despite the narcissistic nature of it, I do think she’s got a good heart and is also trying to do what she can to help and be a positive force in there. With her and Rose it’s been 99% a passive mission, though, with them just going through the motions of inmate observer.
It’s a really interesting study on how quickly and completely someone in the program can just convert and adopt their inmate persona and go “all in” despite all the input and oversight from the programmers. I majored in Sociology in college, and loved the classic controversial studies like the Stanford Prison Experiment, Milgram’s Experiment, etc., and it’s crazy how much of that translates to and continues to any studies of today.
Yeah it is interesting…I get the feeling that Carlos probably only ever had the intention of just showing what an OG he was…I can picture him watching the show and telling his people how great he would be on the show, since he knows the ins and our on prison life…maybe my assumption is wrong but it feels to me like he never really gave a shit about any kind of reform…
And yeah totally agree about Trinity and Rose…
That’s a solid theory.
He basically turned into the male version of Angele (the dumb lil dyke that went in, had a 60 day slumber party, and then blew the entire operation).
Oh fuck Angele hahaha…she went in there and just went buck wild…like a kid in a candy store…
And like you said I can’t believe the 10th episode is about to air…how the fuckin hell did 9wks just fly like that…fuuuuuhhhh…
We already know Carlos is gonna act like a complete twat when he gets called out in debriefing and/or at the reunion. Lucky Chucky actually pulled out with some dignity and we’ll see a major contrast between Carlos and anyone else that didn’t go the distance.
I really wanted to see a monster come in the pod and make that cocky fuckhead eat a broomstick.
I’m about to watch Farrakhan go scorched earth on Carlos…
Well, that was underwhelming…Farrakhan went pretty easy on Carlos and his gold doo rag…Carlos didn’t have much of a retort, until he got out of the room that is haha…
The fight(if you could call it that) with the skinny white trash dude and Thump was also underwhelming…bunch of big talkers…
The reunion show previews looked like it might be pretty entertaining…looks like Lucky Chucky and Carlos are throwing some heated barbs back and forth…looking forward to seeing the shit talk flow…
Yeah, I’d say the entire season has been underwhelming. So many people tapped out so quick, there just wasn’t enough story. The ex-con angle was interesting at first, but with that you lose the whole “fish out of water” element of previous seasons.
Goddamn, what a short season!
When Darius was calling out Thump and Thump responded by choosing to fight Nick I laughed so hard. It reminded me of Army of Darkness when Ash asks “Who wants some?” and then flexes on that old broken down sumbitch.
I think Rose summed up the Sheriff to a T. Saying he had an answer for everything, so why even have the program. She was sharp as Hell on that.
The girl brawl was pretty good.
But yeah, overall a pretty lackluster season.
In reality we probably only had about 4 episodes of actual content since they spent the first half of the season dropping all the dumb backstory/training bullshit and then the stupid quarantine bullshit.
I think the best I can say about this season is… well, it was better than Narcolepsyland. But that’s about it.
Yeah I was going to say the same in that literally anything would be a step up from Narcolepsyland…also funny you mention Army of Darkness as we just re-watched it not too long ago…one of my favorite Ash lines is when he tells the female lead “First you wanna kiss me,the you wanna kill me. Blow.”
Just not a whole lot to root for this season…feels like it was over before it started…maybe the reunion will help make up for it a bit …
It was a complete blip.
Carlos was surprisingly humble and open at the debriefing, but yeah, seems like that was because he was scared in that setting and is again defaulting to his silly tough guy ego.
That said, the Sheriff also has an insanely fragile ego and his catch-all defense for reasonable concerns about nutrition, safety, comfort, health, and sanity is always to get super snappy and play the “This isn’t the Hilton! You don’t want to suffer, don’t go to jail!”
Im addition to the apparent lack of basic humanity and compassion for people that the Sheriff can exhibit, I think it also misses a huge point. People can correct me if I’m off base, but… a large contingency of the jail population is people AWAITING trial. Innocent until proven guilty? Yeah, whatever, they deserve to suffer like rats in the meantime regardless, eh, Sheriff? And some of those cats are just stuck in there because they couldn’t afford to bail out. The Sheriff really does seem to have a pretty gross air of disdain for people in general and it comes across, which only feeds a person like Carlos in his “us against them” mentality when he finds himself in with the rest of the dregs that the Sheriff hates.
The reunion will be interesting. Looks like it’ll be a lot of chest-puffing between Sucky Chucky and Carlos as they assert who’s the king of the streets, haha! That shit is funny because, while they’re too dumb to accept it, it just shows how worthless they are to such a program and how, regardless of their free-man status, they’re still just dopey ass basic bitch thugs.
The point of the reunion is television and we’ll get it. But if they actually want to round table some productive thoughts and ideas, they’d just have some sessions with Darius, Rose, and Charity.
I think ultimately this was a season with another Sheriff who just wanted to peacock on screen and didn’t actually have much of an actual vision or plan for change. There wasn’t much of a mission laid out for the facility-wide prison reform, and so the only three inmates that had a heart for good implemented it at the micro/individual level (Rose’s legal counsel, Darius’ business class and mentoring, Charity’s talent show) while Carlos just had fun role playing as the big dog inmate he always wanted to be.
Shortest season so far, which is pretty impressive. If THAT was the most interesting 5 hours of their 60 day internment, can you even imagine the sheer fucking boredom of everything there? The editors must have been chewing their own tongues off. “Ohh, I think I got something! Yeah, another inmate made some yelling sounds in Pod C around the 500 hour mark. Let’s run with it!!”
Overall a waste of a season.
I hope Deashaun gets out and we see Darius continue to big brother his dumb ass. Other than that, we’ll soon mostly forget this season even happened.
Yeah, that’s pretty much spot on. I liked the Sheriff early on, but as it went on he lost me. Good job getting the ladies new jumpsuits, but how do you not know there’s mold in the showers? It’s like he’s never done a walk through himself.
Sucky Chucky shouldn’t brag too much, he puss’d out super quick.
As far as I’m concerned, Darius won the season. Lasted the whole time, did the most good for his fellow inmates, etc.
I think we’re all in agreement on this. My wife doesn’t watch the show and happened to come in during his debriefing and she started asking me, “Is he an inmate? He sounds so intelligent and well-spoken!” Sush a rad dude.
Oh, and I’m assuming ALL of us looked around the room and shouted WHAT. THE. FUCK. when all of a sudden they showed Shaq for no goddamned reason, with some dopey title like “Community Awareness Officer” or something under his screen time.
Yeah absolutely hahaha!!!..Shaq has a long history of basically endorsing ANYTHING for what I assume are very large amounts of cash…but with this i figured maybe he would be interspersed throughout the season as a friend of Farrakhan’s in some Scared Straight role or some shit…but he literally was shown for seconds in the premiere and for seconds in the finale… hahahaha wtf
