Yeah, why does iTunes do that?
It’s not really random if it gets stuck on one artist that way.

Archos has lackluster sound quality though. Sound quality is far more important than storage. Whats the point of walking around with 100+ GB of music that sounds like shit?

I’ve had my Archos 5 for quite a while and haven’t had a problem with sound quality. Sounds just as good as my iphone.

Well, most of my listening is done in the car anyway, so I really don’t notice. But if there was a player out there with better sound quality, a capacity of 150Gb+ that let me add/remove files as a hard drive instead of some cruddy proprietary program/interface, I’d be all in.
